Rap and hip hop music videos

Atlabs turns a rap, trap or hip hop track into a music video, either as a lip-synced performance by the rapper or as a story told across street-style scenes. Upload the track, and Atlabs reads its mood, genre and BPM and writes concepts that fit the beat. You can use your own face, or an AI rapper who stays consistent across shots.

Try it here: https://app.atlabs.ai/create/music-video

Best for: rappers and hip hop artists, trap and drill producers, and AI music channels with rap songs from Suno.

Step 1: Music

  • Open Workflows → Music Video. Click Upload your music track and add an .mp3 or .wav file up to 200MB. You can also paste a Suno or SoundCloud link and click Extract Music, or pick one of the Sample Music Files.
  • No song yet? Make one with Generate Music (app.atlabs.ai/music).

Made your song on Suno?

  1. Open your song in Suno.
  2. Click Unlock Audio.
  3. Click Download Audio and upload the file here.

Once the audio is unlocked, you can also paste the Suno song link directly.

Atlabs Music Video, step 1 Music: upload your track, paste a Suno or SoundCloud link, or pick a sample

  • In Trim your track, select the part of the song to use. Only the selected part is used in your video.
  • Choose the Video type: Narrative (No Lip Sync, a story told across cinematic scenes) or Performance (Lip Sync, Premium, a lip-synced performance video of the artist).
  • Optional: in the Storyline box, describe the story you want and introduce your cast. Leave it blank and Atlabs writes one from your track. Click Confirm.
  • Performance makes the rapper deliver the verses with lip sync. Narrative tells a story in scenes and suits beat-driven or instrumental-heavy tracks. On the next screen, make sure the Genre and Mood read as hip hop or trap, and use the pencil to correct either one.

Trim your track: choose the part of the song, the video type and an optional storyline

  • Atlabs analyses the track and shows what it heard: Language, Mood, Genre and BPM. If anything is wrong, click the pencil icon on that card and correct it before you move on.

Step 2: Style

  • Pick the Aspect Ratio: 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts, 16:9 for YouTube, or 1:1.
  • Pick the Video Style: AI Video (Recommended) or AI Storyboard (still images).
  • Pick a Visual Style from the grid. For a gritty street style, choose Realistic. For an animated take, try Dark Urban Cartoon or an anime style.

Visual Style grid: pick one style for the whole video

Step 3: Concepts

  • Under Choose your concept, Atlabs shows several concepts generated from your song's tempo, mood and genre, each with a title, a short story and preview frames.
  • Select one, or click the pencil icon on a concept to edit it. To write your own, click Describe your concept. For example, "night, rain on a city street, neon signs, rapper in a black hoodie under a bridge".

Concepts step: Choose your concept, edit one with the pencil, or click Describe your concept

Step 4: Cast

  • Atlabs generates the characters, objects and locations for your video. Review, swap or delete them: everything on this screen appears in your final video. Use Add Character or Add Object to add more.

Cast step: review, swap or delete the characters, objects and locations, then click Finalise Video

For each character, open its card and choose how to set it up:

  • AI-generated character (Create New): Atlabs fills in the details, such as name, age, gender, ethnicity, Visual Appearance, clothing and voice. Change anything you want and click Save. The more detail you give in Visual Appearance, the more consistent the character looks in every scene. Also add the character's height in Visual Appearance, for example "about 97 cm tall". Height keeps the character's proportions right next to other characters and objects, whether it is a human, an animal or any other character.
  • Character Library: pick a character you made before, or one of the ready-made actors.
  • Upload your own image: upload a reference image of your character, then choose Match Video Style or Keep Uploaded Look:
    • Match Video Style converts your image into the video's visual style. Use it when your image is a real photo or a different art style from your video.
    • Keep Uploaded Look uses your image as it is. Use it when your image is already in the same visual style as your video.

This choice keeps the uploaded character consistent with the visual style of the video.

Choose Match Video Style or Keep Uploaded Look for an uploaded image

For this video:

  • Set up the rapper: choose Upload and add your own front-facing photo, or use Create New and describe an AI rapper in detail, including the outfit, so the look holds across shots.

Locations and objects work the same way: create them with AI, pick them from the library, or upload your own image.

Finalise Video

  • Click Finalise Video. In How would you like to start?, choose:

  • Storyboard: a still image for every scene, with no motion or lip sync yet.
  • Video Preview: the first 25 seconds with full motion (and lip sync where your video has it).
  • Full Video: every scene with complete motion (and lip sync where your video has it).

  • Each option shows its credit cost. Click Generate. Run Video Preview to check the lip sync on the first 25 seconds, then generate the full video.
  • You can close the window once generation starts. Your video keeps generating and appears in My Stories.

How would you like to start? Storyboard, Video Preview or Full Video, with the credits for each

Prompt ideas for rap videos

  • "Rooftop at sunset, crew behind the rapper, city skyline, handheld camera feel"
  • "Empty parking garage, single overhead light, slow push-in on the rapper"
  • "Corner store at 2am, flickering sign, rapper leaning on a vintage car"

Good to know

  • Fast verses lip-sync best on close and medium shots with the face clearly visible.
  • Performance videos with lip sync are a premium option and cost more credits than Narrative videos.
  • For TikTok and Reels, pick 9:16 at the Style step. To change a finished video, duplicate the story and switch it to 9:16 from the storyboard top bar.
