Patient education and dental explainer videos
Atlabs makes short animated explainer videos for dental practices and clinics, such as what happens during a root canal, how to care for braces, or how to prepare for a procedure. Paste the explanation in plain words into the Explainer Video workflow, and Atlabs turns it into narrated animated scenes you can show in the waiting room, send to patients or post on your website.

Best for: dentists, orthodontists, clinics, physiotherapists, and health educators who explain the same procedures every day.
Step 1: Script
- Open Explainer Video (the Explainer Video card on the Atlabs home page). Paste your script, or describe what you want to explain and click AI Script Writer. You can also start from a Suggested Topics card.
- Write the text in patient-friendly words, one paragraph per idea. No script? Describe the topic, for example "a 60-second explainer on what happens during a dental implant", and click AI Script Writer.
- Set the language from the dropdown under the box.

- Optional: click the settings icon next to the language to open Scene Pace Settings. Slow changes scene every 15 to 20 words, Medium every 10 to 15, and Fast every 5 to 10.
- Click Continue.

Step 2: Style
- Choose the aspect ratio and a visual style. Choose 16:9 for waiting-room screens and websites, or 9:16 for Reels and Stories (1:1 for the Instagram feed). Flat 2D Modern gives a clean, friendly look that suits health topics.
- Click Continue.
Step 3: Cast
- Choose the Narrator Voice.
- Atlabs lists the characters and locations it found in your script. Click Generate All, open a card to set it up, or delete a card with its bin icon. Choose a reassuring narrator voice. Add a friendly dentist character and a clinic location if you want them in every video.

For each character, open its card and choose how to set it up:
- AI-generated character (Create New): Atlabs fills in the details, such as name, age, gender, ethnicity, Visual Appearance, clothing and voice. Change anything you want and click Save. The more detail you give in Visual Appearance, the more consistent the character looks in every scene. Also add the character's height in Visual Appearance, for example "about 97 cm tall". Height keeps the character's proportions right next to other characters and objects, whether it is a human, an animal or any other character.
- Character Library: pick a character you made before, or one of the ready-made actors.
- Upload your own image: upload a reference image of your character, then choose Match Video Style or Keep Uploaded Look:
- Match Video Style converts your image into the video's visual style. Use it when your image is a real photo or a different art style from your video.
- Keep Uploaded Look uses your image as it is. Use it when your image is already in the same visual style as your video.
This choice keeps the uploaded character consistent with the visual style of the video.

Locations and objects work the same way: create them with AI, pick them from the library, or upload your own image.
- Click Continue.
Step 4: Screenplay
- Check each scene's Location Type, Location and Time of Day, and every SHOT and DIALOGUE line.
- Read every line. This is where you check that each step of the procedure is described correctly.
- Click Finalise.

Finalise
- In How would you like to start?, choose:
- Storyboard: a still image for every scene, with no motion or lip sync yet.
- Video Preview: the first 25 seconds with full motion (and lip sync where your video has it).
- Full Video: every scene with complete motion (and lip sync where your video has it).
- Each option shows its credit cost. Click Generate. Choose Storyboard first, then the full video.

Add captions
Click Captions in the storyboard top bar, so patients can follow without sound.

Ideas for a patient video library
- What to expect at your first visit
- Brushing and flossing for children
- Caring for a new crown or implant
- Aftercare following a tooth extraction
Make one short video per topic with the same dentist character and style, and your clinic has a matching set.
Good to know
- Check every video for clinical accuracy before showing it to patients. AI output can contain mistakes, and medical misinformation is not allowed on Atlabs.
- Do not use a real patient's photo without written consent.
- Translate in the storyboard's three-dot menu makes the same video in your patients' languages.
