How do I change my video from 16:9 to 9:16?
Made your video in 16:9 and need a 9:16 version for Reels, TikTok, Shorts or a Spotify ad? You do not have to remake it. Duplicate your story, change the shape and export.
Videos longer than 30 seconds?
1. Duplicate your story
Open My Stories, click the 3-dot menu on your story and select Duplicate Project. Your original stays safe.

2. Change the aspect ratio
Open the copy and change the aspect ratio from the top bar of the storyboard, e.g. 16:9 → 9:16.

3. Adjust each scene with Crop
Open Edit Video and use Crop in the preview panel to reposition each scene’s visual so the important part stays in the frame.

4. Keep only the scenes you need
(Script to Video, Idea to Video and Animated Video only)
Making a shorter cut? Delete the scenes you do not need: 3-dot menu on the scene → Delete Scene.

5. Export
Click Export to download your video in the new aspect ratio.

🚨 Music videos:
Do not delete scenes. Each scene is matched to its part of your song, so deleting one breaks the music. Keep all scenes and export the full video.
You can instead;
- Download your individual scene's media from the preview on the right.
- Create a blank story
- Upload only the wanted scenes
- Export.
Videos up to 30 seconds?
Use the Reframe app:
- Export your video, or download the shot you need (click the shot → download icon in its top right).
- Open Reframe: https://app.atlabs.ai/reframe
- Upload your clip and choose the new ratio. AI fills the extra space so nothing gets cropped out.
Which ratio do I need?
Where it is going | Ratio |
|---|---|
Reels, TikTok, Shorts, Spotify video ad | 9:16 |
YouTube, Spotify horizontal ad | 16:9 |
Instagram feed | 1:1 |
💡 Tip: Making a new video for a specific platform? Pick the right aspect ratio in Step 1 of the workflow before you generate. Check the platform’s current ad specs (length and size) before you export.
