Reduce Your Scene Count

✂️ How do I have fewer scenes without losing my audio?

If Atlabs generates more scenes than you want, or you just want a tighter edit, there are three ways to bring the count down. Which one you use matters if you have a music track attached, since it affects whether that scene's slice of audio survives.

Option 1: Set your scene count before generating

  • When you're on the input step of your workflow (uploading your script or audio), add timestamps in the to guide how the story breaks into scenes.
  • This shapes how many scenes Atlabs creates from the start, so you're not cutting them down after the fact.

Option 2: Merge a scene with its neighbor

Use this when you want fewer scenes and you have audio attached, merging preserves it.

  • Open the scene you want to combine, or use its scene menu.
  • Choose to merge with the scene before or scene after.
  • The two scenes become one. If both scenes had a portion of your audio track attached, the audio merges too, so nothing gets cut out.

Option 3: Delete a scene outright

Once the scenes are merged, you will find two shots in the same scene. Delete the unwanted shot; this only for a scene you don't want at all.

  • Open the scene's menu and select Delete.
  • The scene is removed and the story renumbers around it.
