# How do I turn an idea into a video with Atlabs?

# 💡Idea / AI Assistant to Video

Idea to Video (also called Text to Video) is the fastest way to create on Atlabs. Type any idea, topic, or sentence into the homepage box, set a few preferences, and Atlabs builds a complete video, script, visuals, voiceover, and motion, or routes you to the best workflow for your input. Prefer to talk it through? Toggle on the **AI Assistant** for a quick chat that shapes your next steps.

### Generate a video from an idea

1. On your dashboard, click inside the **"What should we create today?"** box.
2. Type your idea. Short phrases and full sentences both work.
3. Set the four preferences below the box (see next section).
4. Click **Generate Video.**

💡 **Tip:** Be specific. "5 morning habits for productivity" works far better than "morning habits".

Always set these before generating, they control how your video looks and where it fits:
* **Visual Style:** the artistic look: Realistic, Painting, 3D Cartoon, Flat 2D Modern, Storyboard, 3D Style, Anime, and more. Use the search bar to find one.
* **Aspect Ratio:** match your platform: **16:9** for YouTube/desktop, **9:16** for TikTok/Reels/Shorts, **1:1** for Instagram feed.
* **Duration:** 15s, 30s, or 60s. Longer videos use more credits.
* **Language:** sets the voiceover language. Write your prompt in that language for the best result.

🚨 Changing the aspect ratio *after* generation requires the Reframe Video tool, so set it correctly up front.

###### Refine the script first with AI Script Writer

Want to review the story before spending credits on visuals?
1. Type your idea, then click the **wand icon (🪄)** beside **Generate Video.**
2. Atlabs writes a structured, editable script. Review and edit it line by line.
3. When you're happy, click **Generate Video.**

💡 **Tip:** Refine the AI Script Writer output by adding context about tone, genre, and audience.

###### Preview cheaply with Generate Storyboard

Click the dropdown arrow on the **Generate Video** button for two options:
* **Generate Video:** the full video with visuals, voiceover, motion and lip-syncs.
* **Generate Preview Video:** the first 25 seconds of the video is generated with visuals, voiceovers, motions and lip-syncs.
* **Generate Storyboard:** a scene-structure preview at a much lower credit cost, ideal for checking story flow first.
💡 **Tip:** Use **Generate Storyboard** first to validate structure, especially for longer or complex videos.

After clicking on 'Generate', Atlabs runs a 7-step automated pipeline (analyzing input, creating story structure, configuring voice, setting visual style, generating audio, creating visuals, finalizing) in about 1–2 minutes. 

###### Storyboard Layout

You then land on the **Storyboard** view:
* **Left panel:** scene cards with thumbnails, narration, and timestamps.
* **Right panel:** the video preview with motion status and an **Add Lip Sync** button.
* **Top bar:** Translate, Music, Captions, and Characters. Click any scene to **Edit Storyboard**; export buttons sit top-right.
